A house explosion at 676 Craighead Road 507 near Lake City claimed the life of Slade Owen Gilley, 11, and Deborah Gilley, 64. Three others, two adults and one child, were injured in the explosion.

The incident happened Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:10, trapping the occupants inside the home.

Investigators with the Craighead County Sheriff's Office are still investigating the incident although Assistant Chief Deputy Justin Rolland said they do not believe any foul play or arson occurred.

Rolland said the explosion occurred as a gas line was being hooked up to a propane tank.

The Craighead County Sheriff's office responded along with Lake City, Monette and Caraway fire departments.

The three injured were transported by ambulance and helicopter to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis and St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Deputy Rolland said the two male adults remain in serious condition. He said a hospital spokesman said the other child is set to be released.

Funeral arrangements for Slade Gilley and Deborah Gilley will be announced later at Emerson Funeral Home.
