Manila Basketball Rewind
Manila improved to 3-1 on the young season, splitting a pair of nonconference games in senior boys basketball action last week. The Lions dropped a hard fought 69-62 decision Tuesday night at Valley View before bouncing back to claim a 43-34 victory Friday night on the road at Harrisburg.
Kyle Joyner scored 11 points to lead the Lions in their victory over the Hornets while Caleb Reinhart added nine more. Manila held a 24-15 advantage at the half before Harrisburg pulled to within 29-25 after three quarters of play.
In junior high action, Manila held off Harrisburg 50-42.
Adam Horn pumped in 28 points and Alexander Gorton chipped in 24 more to lead Valley View past the Lions Tuesday night at Blazer Gym. The two teams battled to a 29-29 halftime tie before the Blazers took a slim 49-46 edge into the final frame.
Caleb Reinhart paced the Lions with 26 points while Thomas Davis added 17 more. Reinhart drilled six three pointers on the night while Davis buried five more as the Lions nailed 13 treys on the evening.
In junior high action, Valley View out-dueled the Lions 49-39. Lehman McNabb led the Blazers with 18 points while Joel Burrow topped the Lions with 12.
In senior girls action, Manila (3-1) dropped its first game of the year Thursday night, losing 63-33 to Nettleton. The Lady Lions began the week rolling past Ridgefield Christian 64-25 Monday night at home.
Tashanescil Walker scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Ali Tucker chipped in 15 more to lead the Lady Raiders past Manila.
Taylor Harmon topped the Lady Lions with 15 points.
Kailen Shelton pumped in a game high 21 points in Manila's victory over Ridgefield Christian. Taylor Harmon scored 13 while Hannah McQueen and Heather Hollis chipped in 10 points apiece for the Lady Lions.
Jennifer Whitney led the Lady Warriors with 10 points.
Ridgefield Christian eased past Manila 25-20 in the junior girls game.
Both the Manila boys and girls return to action Tuesday night when they play host to Cedar Ridge.
