Veteran's Day ceremony honoring area veterans was held at Riverside High School on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Arkansas State University's ROTC team made up of Jordan Mays, Timothy Daley, Elise Herbelin, and Lauren Grantham presented the colors and Principal Jeff Priest welcomed the guests.

"We want to thank and honor our veterans," Priest said. "Help us not forget those who have served and given their lives for the land of the free and home of the brave."

Riverside choir sang the National Anthem and Pvt. Marcos Sheppard led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the Riverside Band playing "Armed Forces on Parade."

Wes Ward was the guest speaker for the Riverside Veterans Ceremony.

Teacher Matt Ziegler introduced the veterans and Sgt. Marty Wynn was the faculty speaker.

"Serving your country is much more than a calling, it is an honor and a blessing. When you say the Pledge to the Flag, stand up straight and take pride in your country," Wynn said.

Guest speakers included Cpt. Wes Ward, Sgt. Chris Taylor and Sgt. Roger Williams. All encouraged students to take pride in their country and honor the veterans who served.

Riverside Band played "America-Land of Liberty," followed by Taps played by Stephen Alsup, band director.

Veterans were treated to a luncheon following the ceremony.
