Rebels roll past pair of nonconference foes

Riverside scored a pair of senior high boys basketball wins last week, defeating Ridgefield Christian 61-43 Tuesday night in Jonesboro, followed by a 69-45 thrashing of Armorel Friday night at Lake City.

Gavin Stone poured in 30 points, including six three pointers, to lead the Rebels past Armorel. Kollin Stone added 16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Nash Winters topped the Tigers with 13 points.

In junior high action, Riverside downed the Tigers 47-33 behind Dillon Turner's 18 points.

The Rebels outscored Ridgefield Christian 28-7 in the third quarter to pull away for a 28 point win over the Warriors. Gavin Stone's 26 points paced Riverside while Kollin Stone chipped in 18 more, as Riverside improved to 2-1 on the season.

Mason Griffin led the Warriors with 19 points.

In junior high action, Riverside upped its season record to 4-1 with a 56-30 win over the Warriors. Dillon Turner pumped in 24 points while Ethan Cash chipped in 16 more to lead the Rebels in scoring.

Riverside will return to action Tuesday night, hosting Ridgefield Christian, before traveling to Manila to take on the Lions Friday night.
