Mural/sign depicts local artist's painting

The mural made from local artist Dan Donovan's painting highlights Manila. City workers assisted in getting the mural in place before the chili cook-off on Saturday.

Grenshaw Signs turned a painting by local artist Dan Donovan into a large sign/mural. The mural was placed on the south outside wall of the former Miranda's building which will be the new home of Manila Historic Museum.

Several numbered prints of the painting were made and will be sold by the artist.

The mural and screen copies of other painting by Donovan were created and placed in the front windows of the future site of the museum.

Manila city workers assisted with the hanging of the mural on Wednesday.

"A lot of hours went into the painting and I am glad the enlargement turned out well," Donovan said.

The museum committee, along with the city leaders, are working to renovate the building. The museum, which will feature a video of Manila, will be open to the public in the near future.

The museum outgrew its present home in the old train depot. When the items are moved to the new location the depot will be restored to its original look when it served as a depot, complete with ticket office.

Museum committee members expressed their appreciation to everyone who has donated items to be exhibited in the museum.

  • Hello,

I've posted a comment before with no response. I would REALLY like to get ahold of Mr Donovan. I think he did a painting of my mom in the 70's.

    Thank you,
