Rebels boys go back to back

Riverside brought home their second consecutive 2A State Boy's Tennis Team Championship Tuesday afternoon at the Fort Smith Athletic Club. It marks the fifth straight season the Rebels have won a state team title as the Lady Rebels claimed state crowns in 2010-2012.

The Rebels easily outdistanced runner-up Mulberry, outscoring the host team 15-8.

Riverside was led by the duo of Gavin Stone and Levi Reed, who won the doubles state title with a straight set 6-3, 6-3 victory over teammates Kollin Stone and Jon Milligan.

Rebel Devon Austin outlasted teammate Grant Mason, 7-5, 6-4, to take home third place in singles play.

The Lady Rebels scored five points and finished third behind state champion Parkers Chapel, who accumulated 14 points. Union Christian finished second with eight points in the girls division.

Chelsea Nichols and Natalie Milligan claimed third place for Riverside with a 6-0, 6-1, win over Brittany Edwards and Lexi Voorhees of Mulberry.
