BIC Board elects officers
Buffalo Island Central School Board elected officers for the 2014-2015 school year during its meeting Monday, Oct. 13.
Stacey Thomas will serve as president with Darrin McFall as vice president and Scott Colbert as secretary for the coming year.
In other business the board voted unanimously to revise two parts of the personnel handbook to allow unused personal days to carry over as sick days and to establish the sick bank committee with four members coming from certified personnel, two from non-certified staff, one from administration and the superintendent. The Board was given the dates of the December Arkansas School Board Association meeting and John Field will represent the board as its delegate.
Before adjourning the board was given an update on the school wealth index, which is 60. That means the state will pay 60 percent of building projects with the BIC district paying the remaining 40. Superintendent Gaylon Taylor said the wealth index will change each year.
