Spring Hill ran away with the girls Class 2A State Golf Championship Sept. 29 at the Turkey Mountain Golf Club in Blytheville, producing the top three individual scorers en route to a 55 shot victory over runner-up Foreman.

Buffalo Island Central finished fourth, 25 shots behind third place Salem. Kensie Walker fired a 112 while teammates Ashley Field and Jona Carmichael carded rounds of 118 as the Lady Mustangs posted a team score of 348.

Lakyn Kidd claimed medalist honors, firing a 12 over par round of 85. Lady Bear Christi Chambless carded an 88 while Spring Hill's Mallory Kidd finished her round with a 91.

"We had a really good year," said BIC Coach Cary Cossey. "We placed second in the Blazer Invitational as well as the district tournament, and came in fourth in the state tournament. We've got all our girls back next year, so we expect to be in the state tournament once again."

The BIC boys competed in state tournament play Monday afternoon at Turkey Mountain. Coverage details will appear in next week's Town Crier.
