Volume 2 of What's Cookin' completed

Members of the Manila Business Women's Club hold Volume 2 of What's Cookin' at the Depot cookbooks.

Volume 2 of What's Cookin' at the Depot cookbook is completed and filled with delicious recipes from local cooks. Also featured are many "in memory" recipes from loved ones and friends throughout the area.

The book was compiled by the Manila Business Women's Club and Friends of the Depot. The front cover features a picture of the Manila Depot from an original painting by Dan Donovan, local artist.

"We appreciate the efforts of the members, the community cooks for sharing recipes, the merchants for their support and everyone who had a part in creating the book," JoAnn Bennett, said. "Proceeds from the cookbook will go to put new easy-care tile in the depot center."

A section of the cookbook is dedicated to the club's First Ladies with their recipes featured. Charter members include Opal Fay Adkins, Lorene Ballard, Maude Ballard, Marie Cullins, Violetta Davis, Donna Farmer, Ova Dee Flagg, Patti L. Flannigan, Virginia Wilson, Jenella Wall Caraway, Nell Dean Allen, Betty Hampton, Martha Lawhorn, Elizabeth Miles, Betty Robins, Mazie Robbins, Gerald Wallace, Minnie Lou Williams and Lucie Hornberger.

A history of the club and a list of the current members are also included.

The books are only $10 and can be purchased from any B&PW member. Books are also available a Delta Drug, Towell & Sons, Town Crier, several beauty shops or by calling 561-4726 or 561-4693.
