Area golfers gear up for district tournament play

Ryan Stuck fired an even par 36, helping Buffalo Island Central defeat Truman 121-144 in high school golf action Monday afternoon at the Trumann Country Club. Stuck's sparkling round shared medalist honors with Rector's Kade Scott, who also shot a 36 on the afternoon. Rector finished third with a team total of 150.

Dax Hurst carded a 42 while Miles Gifford posted a 43 in the count-three format. Andrew McFarlin shot a 45, Evan Sanders finished with a 48, Canon Walling posted a 50 while Daniel Carmichael shot a 54. Other BIC scores included Brady Clark's round of 56 while Trevor Couch and Hunter Costner finished the afternoon with 58's.

In girl's action, Kensie Walker carded a 54 while Ashley Field and Jona Carmichael shot 58 and 60 respectively, as the Lady Mustangs posted a team total of 172.

BIC's golf teams will compete in this week's District Tournament at the Turkey Mountain Golf Club in Horseshoe Bend.

Riverside's Larry Tilley fired a four over par 40 to help lead the Rebels past Marmaduke 134-135 Monday afternoon at Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro. Ridgefield Christian finished with a team total of 154.

Rebels Cannon Smith and Caden Barrett posted rounds of 46 and 48 respectively. In girls action, Riverside's Brittany Ditto was the medalist.

Manila finished three shots back of first place Corning in a four team match Thursday afternoon at Victory Lake Golf Course in Corning. Rivercrest finished third, five shots out of the lead, while Piggott was fourth, another seven shots behind.

Preston Nichols of Rivercrest claimed medalist honors with a three over par 39. Burch Milano carded a 43 to lead Manila while Lion teammates Alex Richard and Gage Owen posted rounds of 44 and 45.

Manila began the week competing in a three team event at the Osceola Country Club where the Lions fell by one shot to Corning, 131-132. Rivercrest was third with a team total of 137.

Joel Burrow and Gage Owens led the Lions with rounds of 43 and shared medalist honors with Corning's Jacob Moore.

Lady Lion Taylor Adams shot a 66 in girls action.
