BIC and Manila post wins in area golf action

Buffalo Island Central scored a pair of golf victories last week, winning a four-team match Monday afternoon at the Thunder Bayou Golf Course in Blytheville, followed by another four-team win Tuesday afternoon at the Trumann Country Club in Trumann.

Hunter Costner fired a one-under par 35 to claim medalist honors as the Mustangs carded a winning team total of 115 Monday at Blytheville. Dax Hurst and Andrew McFarlin both shot 40s as the top three scores from each team were counted in the final scoring. Miles Gifford shot a 42, Ryan Stuck posted a 44, while Daniel Carmichael tallied a 47. Evan Sanders had a 48, Canon Walling shot a 49, Brady Clark finished with a 51 while Trevor Couch posted a 61 to round out the BIC individual scoring.

Armorel came in second with a 135 team total led by Leyton Clark's even par round of 36. Riverside was third with a 145 score led by Larry Tilley's round of 45. Matthew Fraser and Caden Barrett both shot 50s for the Rebels. Ridgefield Christian finished fourth with a 155 score.

Armorel, led by medalist Lunden Stallings' 44, defeated BIC 159-170 in girls action. Ashley Field fired a 47 to lead the Lady Mustangs while Jona Carmichael and Kensie Walker carded rounds of 61 and 62 respectively. Brittany Ditto shot a 66 for Riverside's Lady Rebels.

Ryan Stuck fired a one-under par 35 to take home medalist honors in BIC's victory at Trumann Tuesday afternoon. Miles Gifford shot a 40 while Dax Hurst and Hunter Costner carded rounds of 41, as the Mustangs finished with a winning team score of 116.

Andrew McFarlin posted a 45 while teammates Daniel Carmichael and Brady Clark shot 46s. Evan Sanders and Canon Walling posted 47s while Trevor Couch finished with a round of 51.

Host Trumann came in second with a 137 score. Rivercrest was third with a 140 total while Marked Tree was fourth, shooting a team score of 147.

In girl's action, Kensie Walker fired a 49 to take home medalist honors while Jona Carmichael and Ashley Field carded rounds of 50 and 51 respectively.

Manila played host in a three team match Monday afternoon at the Big Lake Country Club. The Lions fired a team score of 136 to defeat second place Marmaduke by 19 shots. Crowley's Ridge Academy finished third with a 171.

Lion teammates Joel Burrow and Burch Milano carded rounds of 45 to tie for medalist honors. Manila's Alex Richard shot a 46.
