Larry D. Osborn
Larry D. Osborn, "Mr. Osborn," departed this life Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, in Jonesboro, at the age of 69. He was born Oct. 13, 1944, in Black Oak, the son of the late J.E. Osborn and Sally Wilson Osborn. Mr. Osborn taught school for 40 years, with 39 of those years in Harrisburg. He retired in 2006. He taught history and social studies and in his career taught over 4,000 students covering over three generations. He was a member of the Church of Christ, member of the Poinsett Masonic Lodge and lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed outdoor activities and history trivia. He married Henrietta Wallace on Sept. 2, 1966, and they enjoyed 48 years together.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jason Osborn (Barbara) of Black Oak and Jon Osborn (Dawn) of Jonesboro, and three grandchildren, James Edward Osborn, William Thomas Osborn and Lauren Grace Osborn.
Graveside funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday at the Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Friends visited at the funeral home from 3-6 p.m. Sunday.
