Father and son Heath and H.D. Sanders won first place in the team roping event at the Cody Nite Rodeo in Cody, Wy., on July 30.

Roping to win is one of the things the father/son team enjoys together. Last year they won third place and H.D. was the youngest ever to win at Cody Nite. The rodeo has been going on for 75 years. Cody Nite is a tourist attraction and draws about 5,000 spectators nightly.

They also enjoy spending time together on the Sanders Ranch near Monette. Heath has enjoyed teaching his son the sport of roping.

Heath has been roping for over 22 years. He, with partner Taylor Morgan of Trumann, holds the 2013 Cinch USTRC National Championship.
