Monette -- Bertha Walker Sparkman, 94, departed this life Monday, July 14, 2014, at her daughter's home in Auburn Hills, Mich. She was born Dec. 29, 1919, in Cherry Valley, the daughter of the late Henry Duke and Mary Jane Banton Duke. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God. She loved to quilt and cook and was often called the world's greatest cook and baker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Lee Henry Walker and Bill Sparkman, five brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Audrey and Charles Taylor of Auburn Hills, Mich.; a son and his wife, Jimmy and Marla Walker of Waterford, Mich.; two daughters-in-law, Linda Walker of Fayette, Ala., and Debra Walker of Pontiac, Mich.; and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services was 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Shawn McElhannon and Rev. Terry Miller officiating. Interment followed in Nettleton Cemetery.

Visitation was at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
