Free financial aid filing to be offered
Nancy Fergus, of the TRIO program, will be at the Arkansas Northeastern College campus in Leachville to help prospective college students fill out their financial aid forms for fall 2014* from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4. To schedule an appointment call the Osceola campus, 870-563-3236.
The TRIO Educational Opportunity Center, located on the Arkansas Northeastern College campus, provides financial aid and admission assistance to adults 19 and older, seniors in the northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri area as well as assistants in scholarships, admissions applications, admissions testing, career planning and degree choice. All EOC programs are free.
Those who will be attending the Aug. 4 free financial aid filing at Leachville will need to bring their 2013 tax return, W-2s and if married their spouse's income tax return and W-2s. Those newly graduated seniors or those living at home should bring their parents' income tax return and W-2s if they do not have children who receive 51 percent of support from them, who are not a ward of the court, both parents are not deceased, are not serving active duty in the armed forces, not a veteran of the armed forces, and not born before Jan. 1, 1991.
Other things to bring are 2013 statement of annual amount paid or received from child support, annual statement of welfare benefits, annual statement of social security benefits for each person in the household that received the benefits, copies of the legal court documents for foster care or proof of legal guardianship.
