Paralee H. McFarlin

Mrs. Paralee H. McFarlin of Monette departed this life Friday, June 6, 2014, in Jonesboro, at the age of 88. She was born April 27, 1926, in Little River, Ark., the daughter of the late Arthur Dougherty and Bertha Keith Dougherty. She grew up in the Macey Community and attended school at Macey Public Schools. She married Thomas Junior "Budgie " McFarlin on Aug. 18, 1945. Paralee worked for Douglas Aircraft during WW II and also helped in the family garage business. She drove a school bus for Monette Public Schools. She enjoyed her flower beds and gardening and loved dancing, playing cards, and traveling. She was of the Baptist faith but attended the Monette Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas McFarlin, and six brothers, Art Junior Dougherty, Ray Dougherty, Bill Dougherty, Charles Dougherty, David Dougherty, and a baby brother Dougherty.

She is survived by one son, Thomas McFarlin (Donna) of Manila; one daughter, Karalee Gibson (Larry) of Lake City; one brother, Lavern Dougherty of Catawissa, Mo.; one sister, Bernice Tompkins of Senath, Mo.; one grandson, Michael McFarland (Jennifer); two granddaughters, Melinda Wells (Brice) and Patricia Duffel (Phillip), all of Monette; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. Interment followed in Macey Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
