Over 50 classmates and guests gathered on Friday, May, 30, at LaCascada Mexican Restaurant in Manila to celebrate their 50th reunion.

The Manila Class of 1964 had a lot to talk about as they reached the half-century milestone of their senior year.

They reminisced, replayed a few basketball games, remembered teachers, school activities, and enjoyed an evening in their hometown with longtime friends.

The alumni came from across the state and as far away as Arizona, Michigan and Louisiana to celebrate their 50 year class reunion.

The 1964 class officers included Tommy Towles, president; Wayne Wagner, vice president; Ann Miles Wells, secretary; Kay Barker, treasurer; and Larry Waddell reporter.

The Lions won the pre-holiday tournament in 1964 and experienced first-hand Beatlemania. The top movies of the year included My Fair Lady, Carpetbaggers, Charade, and Mary Poppins and they got to watch them and many other movies at the Tipton Theater in downtown Manila.

The class also took time from their celebration to remember their classmates who have passed away. "Through the past fifty years, we have experienced many new and exciting times. We have witnessed many changes to society (some better some worse). We have experienced marriages, births of children, our children's graduation, and births of grandchildren. The joys we have experienced cannot be fully appreciated without recognizing our losses. Those who have left us and found eternal peace with our Father in Heaven will always be a part of our class. Gone but definitely not forgotten"

Deceased classmates are Sharon Kay Carter Barker, J.W. Cochran, Darrell Wayne Griffin, Tim Holt, Joe Keith Hornberger, Roy Lee Lamb, Carl Miller, Martha Jane McCulley, Jimmy McMinn, Dorothy Moore, Kenneth Morries, and Larry Waddell.

A candle was lit for each deceased classmate.

Several friends from classes before and after stopped by to visit the Manila Lions of the Class of 1964.

Several classmates continued their celebration attending the 1960s' reunion held on Saturday at the Manila Airport Center.
