Rebels enjoy unbeaten week
Riverside continued to roll, picking up three straight wins in high school baseball action last week. The Rebels beat Marmaduke 6-1 Monday afternoon on the road, whipped Hillcrest 7-1 Wednesday in nonconference play before slipping past Trumann 6-5 Friday afternoon at Lake City.
Kollin Stone (4-2) pitched the Rebels past the Greyhounds in Monday's contest. Stone worked six innings, giving up just one hit while fanning four batters. Stone also had a big day at the plate with a double and a triple. The junior's leadoff triple in the fourth inning ignited a three run outburst that snapped a 1-1 tie. Larry Tilley added a pair of singles and an RBI for the Rebels.
Devon Austin whiffed 12 batters in Riverside's victory over Hillcrest Wednesday at Strawberry. Austin (5-2) gave up just two hits on the day. Luke Baker and Matthew Fraser had a pair of hits apiece while Michael Mann drove in two runs to lead the Rebel offense.
Riverside finished the week with a one run come from behind victory over Trumann. The Rebels trailed 5-3 entering the bottom of the seventh inning before rallying with three runs to gain the win.
Riverside pulled to within one run on a wild pitch and tied the game on Fraser's bases loaded walk. Brandon Towery followed with a game winning walk off RBI single.
Towery finished the day 2-2 with an RBI while Tilley also had a pair of hits with one run batted in. Cody Webb picked up the win in relief.
Riverside is now 13-6 overall and 8-6 in conference play.
