Eatmon and Pike fire shutouts in pair of conference victories
Buffalo Island Central posted a pair of 4-0 shutouts to improve to 8-8 overall and 8-6 in 2A-3 conference baseball action.
The Mustangs defeated Rector 4-0 Monday behind the five hit pitching of Seth Eatmon. Eatmon (3-2) struck out seven Cougars while walking just two in going the distance. Austin Pike provided a two run double for BIC while Jacob Sanders scored twice. Adam Dinkins absorbed the loss, despite giving up just three hits and two earned runs.
It took two days to complete BIC's 4-0 whitewash of East Poinsett County. The Mustangs took a 4-0 lead before the game was suspended because of rain. The two teams resumed play Friday afternoon and played three scoreless innings, securing BIC's fifth straight win.
Austin Pike worked four innings Thursday and was credited with the win. The junior right hander allowed just one hit and struck out two. Seth Eatmon took the mound Friday and pitched the final three innings to gain the save. Eatmon allowed two hits and fanned six batters.
Alan Carmichael had a pair of hits, scored twice and had an RBI while Dax Hurst provided a two-run single for the Mustangs.
