Lady Mustangs continue undefeated run in area softball
Buffalo Island Central remained undefeated in area softball, picking up three more victories, all in 2A-3 conference play last week. The Lady Mustangs (13-0, 6-0 2A-3) began the week with a 6-2 victory over Rector. BIC followed with a 7-3 win over Marked Tree Wednesday afternoon before defeating Riverside 5-2 Thursday afternoon at Monette.
Madison Greathouse went 3-4, including an RBI double and a run scored while firing a six hitter to lead BIC past Rector. Greathouse fanned seven Lady Cougars while giving up two earned runs. Karoline Thomas added a two run triple while going 2-4 on the afternoon. Thomas also scored a run. Bailey Owens went 3-4 and scored a run. Catherine Colbert belted an RBI double and also singled. Lexi Ray and Kelsey Strickland both had RBI singles and scored once while Hannah Poe added a hit and crossed the plate one time.
Greathouse pitched BIC past Marked Tree Wednesday afternoon, allowing seven hits, giving up three runs while striking out eight Lady Indians. Greathouse helped herself with an RBI double, a single and two runs scored. Bailey Owens blasted an RBI triple, singled and scored once. Kenzie Walker went 3-3 and scored once. Hannah Poe had a pair of singles, an RBI and scored a run. Karoline Thomas laced an RBI double and also singled, Catherine Colbert provided an RBI single while Lexi Ray singled and scored a run. Kelsey Strickland added an RBI and crossed the plate once.
The Lady Mustangs closed out the week with a three run victory over rival Riverside. Greathouse earned the win, pitching seven innings of six hit ball. Greathouse allowed two earned runs, fanned six and walked one.
Kelsey Strickland ripped an RBI double while going 3-4 on the day. Karoline Thomas also doubled and singled twice. Bailey Owens went 2-4 with an RBI. Catherine Colbert had an RBI single while Kenzie Walker added a hit and scored once. Hannah Poe picked up an RBI.
Emily Jordan pitched six innings for Riverside and suffered the loss. Jordan allowed five runs and 10 hits while striking out two and walking a pair.
Jordan Miller provided the big blow for the Lady Rebels, hammering a two-run homer in the second inning. Lauren Smith picked up a pair of hits while Delaney George, Anna Brickell and Emily Jordan also added base hits for Riverside.
