Linda Simpson, Lake City clerk/treasurer

Linda Goodson Simpson, city clerk/treasurer, for the City of Lake City is announcing her bid for re-election. Mrs. Simpson will be seeking her third term in office. She is currently serving her eighth year and her second term.

While in office Simpson has achieved these goals in furthering her education - the Certified Arkansas Municipal Clerk (CAMC), and Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC). She is currently working on Arkansas Certified Municipal Official certification, and in May of this year will complete requirements needed for Master Municipal Clerk (MMC).

While in office during the second term Mrs. Simpson has also held the offices of secretary, treasurer, and is currently vice president of the Arkansas City Clerks, Recorders, Treasurers, Association (ACCRTA). ACCRTA is an organization that works with the Arkansas Municipal League and other associations in providing educational opportunities and mentoring for all clerks, recorders, and treasurers to municipalities across the state.

During her terms in office Mr. Simpson has written eight grants for a total of $78,000, for the City of Lake City. The Easter Egg Hunt has been one of the many annual activities included in her busy schedule, but she says it takes the whole community working together to pull it off. She is grateful for the volunteers that help each year, the businesses that donate time and money, and of course the fabulous Easter Bunny.

Linda and her husband Carroll are members of Lake City First Baptist Church, where she is also active in the Women's' Prison Ministry. They have four children, 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren that occupy any spare time they might have.

Mrs. Simpson has enjoyed her job as city clerk/treasurer and considers it a privilege and honor to serve the citizens of her city. "Home is where the heart is, and Lake City has always been home to me, it's where I raised my family. I love this city and the people that live here. I have always tried to do the best job that I can, and each day I pray God will grant the ability and knowledge to continue to do so."
