Manila First Baptist youth reach out to community
First Baptist Youth and their leader Bryan Shanks started spring break Monday by giving back to the community.
The group gathered at the Shanks' home Monday morning with a plan to help with clean up in their town. They cleaned up ditches and roadways on Highway 18 and several streets in Manila picking up debris.
Several senior citizens in the area got a helping hand on Tuesday as the young people continued their quest using their energy and time to help with yard clean up after a long winter. Due to the weather several senior citizen's residences had limbs down and needed a general spring clean-up.
Shanks expressed his appreciation to the willingness of the young people to help others.
Following two days of clean-up, about 30 members of the youth group plan to attend a retreat.
