Rebels break out big bats to club Marmaduke and Cross County
Riverside scored eight times in the second inning and went on to pound Marmaduke 13-3 in 2A-3 conference baseball action Thursday afternoon at Lake City. The Rebels began the week crushing Cross County 13-0 Tuesday afternoon at Cherry Valley.
Devon Austin picked up the win in Riverside's victory over Marmaduke, going four innings. Austin fanned five Greyhounds while allowing just one hit. Kollin Stone singled twice, drove in a pair of runs and stole two bases. Matthew Frazier singled, tripled and drove in two runs. Larry Tilley singled twice and had an RBI while Austin helped his own cause with two hits and an RBI.
Cody Webb (1-0) pitched five shutout innings in Riverside's whitewash of Cross County. Webb struck out seven Thunderbirds while walking just two.
Riverside (2-3) also got a perfect 3-3 performance from Caden Barrett, who drove in one run. Kollin Stone singled, doubled and had an RBI. Devon Austin and Gavin Stone had two hits each along with an RBI apiece, while Michael Mann drove in three runs.
