PIKE SCORES 1000TH POINT

Buffalo Island Central broke the 100 point barrier, winning a 109-84 shootout over Crowley's Ridge Academy Thursday night at Paragould.

Austin Pike delivered a triple double in leading the Mustang offensive attack. The junior pumped in a game high 35 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 10 assists while passing the 1000 point mark in his career.

Nick Bollinger poured in 27 points while Jacob Sanders and Seth Eatmon added 11 and 10 points respectively.

CRA also put four players in double figures, led by Jake Bigger who scored 26. Levi Wallace had 16, James Scott scored 12 while Jonah Towell pitched in 10.

BIC scored 29 points in the first quarter to take an 11 point lead before exploding for 33 more in the second period to grab a commanding 63-31 halftime advantage.

The Mustangs came up short on senior night as Rector knocked off BIC 71-60 Friday night at Monette.

Reed Weber led the Cougars with 21 points while Adam Dinkins chipped in 20 more. Alex Scott added 16 as Rector handed BIC just its second conference loss of the season.

BIC (24-4, 14-2 2A-3) got 14 points from Nick Bollinger while fellow senior Alex Ballin scored 13. Austin Pike tallied 12 while senior Jacob Sanders finished with 10.

Before the game, BIC honored five seniors, including Sanders, Bollinger, Ballin, Drake Brown and Gunnar James.

"We have a good bunch of seniors," said Mustang Head Coach Bill Taylor. "Jacob Sanders is a great leader and a very hard worker. He shoots over 100 threes every day in practice. He's the valedictorian of his class. He really has his act together. Nick Bollinger is our second leading scorer. He has really improved his post play this year. He took six charges in one game earlier this season. He's a very hard worker. Alex Ballin is overlooked sometimes. He's a good defensive player and a very good spot three point shooter. He does an excellent job at what he is asked to do. Drake Brown is our energy guy off the bench. He's a very good defensive player who knows his role. Gunnar James works as hard as anybody in practice. He is a great teammate. We are going to miss all five of our seniors."

In junior high action, BIC defeated Rector 54-24 and downed CRA 58-33.

The junior Mustangs will open district tournament play as the number two seed Wednesday night at Marmaduke. Tipoff is set for 8:15 p.m.
