Lady Mustangs fall to Marmaduke in 2A-3 Conference action

Buffalo Island Central saw its record slip to 17-9 overall and 9-6 in 2A-3 conference play with a pair of league losses last week. BIC fell 91-65 Monday night at Marmaduke before dropping a 58-51 decision Thursday night to Marked Tree at home.

Marmaduke had six players hit double digits, led by Alex Richey's team high 20 point performance. Shelby Blackburn scored 14, Madison Price had 13, Sidnee Bopp tallied 11 while Cally Burgess and Allison Hampton chipped in 10 points apiece. The Lady Greyhounds hit 17-22 charity tosses and buried seven three pointers.

Hannah Poe topped the Lady Mustangs with 20 points while Taylor McKuin and Karo Thomas added 16 and 10 points respectively. Madison Greathouse and Cidnie Brooks scored six points apiece, Megan Webster contributed four while Kelsey Strickland added three. BIC hit 21-27 free throws and made one three pointer.

Marmaduke led 23-18 after the first quarter and stretched their lead to 48-38 at the half. The Lady Greyhounds began the third period with an 11-0 run to take a commanding 59-38 advantage. Marmaduke led 67-49 entering the final frame.

Jay Perry poured in 22 points while Lexi Perry added 18 more in Marked Tree's victory over BIC. The Lady Indians led 25-17 after the first quarter, 34-28 at the half and 50-41 after three periods of play.

Poe led BIC with 17 points, McKuin scored 14 while Thomas added 12. Greathouse rounded out the Lady Mustang scoring attack with eight points.

In junior high action, Marmaduke cruised past BIC 46-30. Emily Cardy paced the Lady Greyhounds with 15 points while Jordan Mays chipped in 11 more. Marmaduke led 14-10 after the first quarter and 27-17 at intermission. The Lady Greyhounds took a 38-26 advantage into the fourth period.

Heather Sipes led BIC with nine points while Kayla Griffin added eight. Jona Carmichael and Makayla Rogers scored four points each while Molly Hart pitched in three. Curston Davis and Cadyn Qualls added one point apiece.

BIC closed the week with a 32-20 victory over Marked Tree. Sipes and Hart paced the Lady Mustangs with eight points apiece, Rogers scored six while Carmichael and Madison Brown pitched in four points each. Griffin added two points.

The Lady Mustangs return to action Monday night with a nonconference road trip to Bay. BIC will host Rector Thursday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.
