Free tax preparation and electronic filing available

Free tax preparation and electronic filing will be available from Jan. 21 until April 15.

The IRS-Certified volunteers will provide free tax help to those who qualify in the Mississippi County area.

Tax filing services are for individuals and families earning less than $51,000.

The VITA locations include MCAEOC Office, 1400 North Division Street, Blytheville, (870) 776-1054; Family Resource Center, 404 School Street, Osceola, (870) 563-5912. Operation hours are Monday through Friday (walk-ins) 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or Saturdays by appointments only.

Representatives will be at Buffalo Island Child Development Center at 912 North Davis Street, Manila, (870) 561-4204, Patsy Wilson, by appointments only, Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 12, Feb. 19 and Feb. 26.

Participants should bring Social Security or Individual Tax Identification numbers for all persons listed on the return for new and returning clients; a picture ID (drivers license, etc.); all W-2 and 1099 forms; copy of last year's tax return (2012); information from other income; and direct deposit account information.

Persons wishing to file their own return can visit for a tax link to prepare Federal and State taxes free.
