Rebels claim pair of 2A-3 Conference road victories

Riverside racked up a pair of 2A-3 conference victories to run their record to 16-5 overall and 7-1 in league play. The Rebels began the week with a 54-40 win over defending league champion East Poinsett County at Lepanto. Riverside completed their two game sweep with a 72-68 win Friday night at Marmaduke.

Caleb Waugh burned the nets for 26 points, including six three pointers, to spark the Rebels past EPC. Riverside jumped to a 20-10 lead after the opening quarter and held a 31-25 advantage at the half. The Rebels stretched their lead to 41-31 after three quarters of play.

Brandon Sain also hit double digits for the Rebels, scoring 14 points. Devon Austin scored seven, Victor Cerda had five while Kollin Stone pitched in two points. Riverside hit six of nine foul shots and drilled 10 treys on the night.

Aaron Scales led the Warriors with 14 points. Clay Malone tallied 12 while Byron Scales pitched in 10. EPC connected on five of six free throws and hit three treys.

Kollin Stone poured in a game high 27 points in Riverside's win at Marmaduke. Brandon Sain recorded a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds while Caleb Waugh added 16 points.

Eddie Page topped the Greyhounds with 23 points while Quentin Smith added 21 more. Hayden Winberry pitched in 10.

In junior high action, Riverside took out EPC 34-21. Dillon Turner led the Rebels with nine points while Dylan Davis and Gavin Stone added eight points apiece. Braden Overman tallied three while Canon Walling, Gannon Crews and Chris Sain added two points each. Riverside led 13-6 after the first period, 23-9 at the half and 30-15 entering the final frame.

Riverside defeated Marmaduke 50-27 in junior high action. Turner led the Rebels with 14 points. Davis added 13 while Stone pitched in 12 more. Luke Richey topped the Greyhounds with 10 points.

Riverside returns to action Tuesday night when they play host to BIC in a key 2A-3 conference battle with first place on the line. The Rebels will play host to Augusta in another league matchup Wednesday night. Riverside will host Black Rock Thursday night in nonconference play before completing the week with a nonconference game at home Friday night against Bay.
