Austin Pike pumped in 14 second half points to help rally Buffalo Island Central to a 75-62 victory at Augusta Friday night in 2A-3 conference basketball action. The Mustangs trailed 37-28 at the half, but outscored the Red Devils 26-13 in the third quarter to grab a 54-50 edge heading into the final frame.

BIC pulled away in the fourth quarter to improve their overall record to 17-2 and conference mark to a perfect 8-0. Pike finished the night with 25 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks. Jacob Sanders pitched in 16 points while Nick Bollinger finished with 15.

Lorenzo Pryor III paced the Red Devils with 25 points. Keandre Munns tallied 14 while Anfernee Neal added 13 more.

In junior high action, BIC thumped Augusta 52-11.

The Mustangs began the week, squeezing out a 34-31 victory over Rector on the road. Pike topped BIC with 12 points while Bollinger added 10. Reed Weber recorded a double-double for the Cougars, scoring 15 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.

BIC took the junior high contest 51-29.

The Mustangs will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Riverside to take on the Rebels in a battle for first place in the 2A-3 conference. BIC will close the week with a road trip Friday night to McCrory.

The Lady Mustangs traveled to Augusta Friday night and came away with a 48-31 victory over the Lady Red Devils. BIC took a slim 9-6 edge after the first period before taking a 25-14 advantage into the dressing room at intermission. The Lady Mustangs put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring Augusta 15-4 to take a commanding 39-18 lead into the final period of play.

Taylor McKuin led the Lady Mustangs with 13 points.

In junior high action, Makayla Rogers scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to power BIC to a 54-38 win over Augusta.

The Lady Mustangs began the week, losing at Rector 60-26 on Monday night. Kendall Gunn poured in 18 points to lead Rector (20-4, 6-2 2A-3). Anna Blackshare and Kristen Smart tallied 10 points apiece for the Lady Cougars.

Madison Greathouse topped BIC with nine points.

BIC claimed the junior high contest 38-12.

The Lady Mustangs will return to the hard court Monday night when they take on rival Riverside at Lake City. BIC will close the week with a Thursday night road trip to McCrory.
