Lake City Council approves salary increases

Monday, December 30, 2013

Lake City Council approved the 2014 proposed budget which included salary increases for the mayor, city clerk/treasurer; and one employee at the Dec. 16 meeting.

Mayor Jon Milligan made a recommendation for an increase of 40 cents per hour per full time employee for the remaining uniformed and non-uniformed employees of the city beginning Jan. 1.

Mayor Milligan informed the council he attended a meeting with Legacy Landfill regarding the city's recycle trucks. Due to some problems with the paperwork on the grants, all the cities in Craighead County, with the exception of Jonesboro, will have to return the Recycle Blue Bag Trucks.

The City of Lake City has two recycle trucks. There will be a public auction sometime in January to bid on the trucks. The mayor asked the council for permission to allow him to bid on the city's 2005 and 2011 trucks when they come up for bid. The motion passed unanimously.

Mayor Milligan asked the Council to give Renee Chamness a $225 bonus for her work and volunteer hours done at the ballpark and the Christmas parade. Council approved the recommendation.

The next regular scheduled council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at city hall.
