BIC remains undefeated in Conference with win over Marked Tree

Buffalo Island Central rode the strong play of Austin Pike to a 63-55 win over Marked Tree Tuesday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.

Pike poured in 26 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out eight assists and blocked seven shots as the Mustangs rallied from a one point deficit at the end of three quarters to improve to 13-1 overall and 5-0 in 2A-3 conference play.

Nick Bollinger scored 20 points while Alan Carmichael also completed a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

D'Angelo Griffin scored 14 points to lead the Indians while Daniel Rucker and Terry Carter added 12 and 10 points respectively.

BIC claimed the junior high contest 49-28.

The senior Mustangs will enter the NEA Tournament as the number one seed and will open play Thursday, Dec. 26, at 4:30 against the winner of the first round game between Walnut Ridge and Armorel.

The Lady Mustangs fell to Marked Tree 61-52 Monday night at the MAC. The Lady Indians led throughout most of the contest before a late BIC rally fell short.

Jay Perry led Marked Tree with 21 points while Lexi Perry added 19 points and 18 rebounds.

Hannah Poe and Madison Greathouse topped BIC's scoring with 14 points apiece. Taylor McKuin delivered a double-double, scoring 11 points while grabbing 12 rebounds.

In the junior high contest, BIC improved to 10-2 and 6-0 with a 46-23 win over the Lady Indians. Jona Carmichael led BIC with 10 points.

The Lady Mustangs traveled to Nettleton Tuesday night and dropped a 60-39 decision to the Lady Raiders. Ali Tucker led Nettleton with 16 points while Raven McMillion added 14 points and 10 boards. Katera Sharp pitched in 13 more.

Hannah Poe paced the Lady Mustangs with 15 points. Madison Greathouse scored eight whileTaylor McKuin added seven before fouling out in the third quarter. Karo Thomas had four, Megan Webster tallied three while Bailey Owens contributed two points.

The Lady Mustangs return to action Dec. 23, when they take on Crowley's Ridge Academy in the first round of the NEA Tournament in Jonesboro. Tipoff at the Convocation Center is set for 3:00 p.m.
