Lions, Lady Lions complete unbeaten week
Manila senior boys and girls finished off an undefeated week with victories in the Highland Classic Saturday afternoon at Hardy.
Thomas Davis led the Lions with 19 points as Manila cruised to a 54-45 victory over Batesville. Zac Riley scored 14 while Scott Eubanks added 13 more to aid the Manila cause.
The Lions led 13-9 after the first quarter, 25-11 at the half and 41-26 after three periods of play.
Manila began the week with a 65-55 victory on the road at Corning in their 3A-3 conference opener. Eubanks poured in a game high 24 points to pace the Lions while Davis drained six three pointers and finished with 18. Riley added 14 more.
J.P. Woods topped the Bobcats with 19 points. Trevor Barajas scored 12 while Tim McMasters added 11.
Manila won the junior high contest over Corning 50-22. Bradey Woodall led the Lions with 16 points, including three treys. Miles Gifford drained three triples and finished with nine points. Tyler Johnson scored seven, Matthew May and Rodney Laster tallied six points apiece while Logan Hamilton, Patrick Tanner and Dylon Carruth added two points each.
The Lions will return to action Tuesday night when they play host to Harrisburg in a 3A-3 conference battle.
The Lady Lions defeated Marmaduke 59-43 Saturday afternoon in the Highland Classic. Kirsten Adcock scorched the nets for 31 points to pace Manila. Deven Burrow chipped in 11 more.
Manila began the week with a tough 66-58 win over Harrisburg in the Lady Lions' conference opener Monday night at home. Kailen Shelton led Manila with 18 points while Emily Cook and Deven Burrow added 15 and 13 points respectively.
Kaci Mack led the Lady Hornets with a game high 23 points. Peyton Craft pumped in 20 while Keely Edwards added 14 more.
The Lady Lions return to the hard court Monday night, traveling to Gosnell for a non-conference tilt.
