Buffalo Island Relay for Life committee welcomes new community representative
Brenda Matheny, Buffalo Island Relay for Life chairman, Rebecca Clowers, co-chairman, and several committee members hosted a reception for the new American Cancer Society Relay for Life Community Representative Ashley Jones Hennessey.
Hennessey has been with the American Cancer Society for two and a half years. She will be adding Buffalo Island Relay for Life to her list of communities which include Osceola, Blytheville, Paragould and Arkansas Statet University.
She is a Arkansas State University graduate and has a bachelor's degree in psychology; a degree in radio/television; and a masters degree in mass communications.
A resident of Forrest City, she is married to Mike Hennessey.
"I had never been to a Relay for Life until my first day on the job with the Cancer Society," Hennessey said. "I visited the Osceola Relay for Life. It has become my passion."
She has a young cousin who is now cancer free.
"That is what keeps me, along with all of the volunteers, going," she said. "I am looking forward to meeting new people and getting them involved. I think Buffalo Island does a great job with their Relay for Life and I am looking forward to working with them."
