Rebel boys and girls stay unbeaten
Riverside remained unbeaten on the young season with a 57-34 road victory over Armorel Friday night in senior boys basketball action.
The Rebels (4-0) led 16-7 after the first quarter, 31-13 at the half and 46-21 at the end of three periods of play. Kollin Stone paced Riverside with 16 points while Brandon Sain and Devon Austin added 10 points apiece. Austin also grabbed nine rebounds.
Riverside began the week with a 67-52 victory over Ridgefield Christian Tuesday night at Lake City. The Rebels held a slim 12-9 lead after the first quarter and took a 26-23 edge into the dressing room at the half. Riverside led 46-43 entering the final frame.
The Rebels connected on 16-17 foul shots in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. Kollin Stone pumped in 21 points to lead Riverside while Devon Austin and Victor Cerda added 16 and 10 points respectively.
In junior high action, Armorel squeezed past the Rebels 43-42 in overtime. Seth Wyatt led the Tigers with 14 points while Dillon Turner topped Riverside with 18. Dylan Davis added 11 more for the Rebels.
Riverside rolled over Ridgefield Christian 45-12. Dillon Turner led the Rebels with 11 points.
The Lady Rebels also stayed unbeaten at 3-0 on the year with a 51-27 win over Armorel.
Kenzley Wilson led Riverside with 18 points while Natalie Milligan snared 10 rebounds. Riverside led 11-4 after the opening period and 21-7 at the half.
Riverside claimed the junior girls contest 32-29. Haven Robertson led the Lady Rebels with 14 points.
The Riverside boys return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Ridgefield Christian. The Rebels will play host to Manila Friday night in Lake City.
The Lady Rebels take on Gosnell Monday night on the road before traveling to Bay Tuesday night.
