Seminoles scalp Lions 55-0
Osceola quarterback Harold Weeden tossed four first half touchdown passes to spark the Seminoles to a 55-0 rout over winless Manila in 3A-3 conference football action Friday night at Lion Field.
Weeden connected with Tevin James for a 45-yard touchdown strike on Osceola's first play from scrimmage at the 10:03 mark of the opening quarter. James' point after gave the Seminoles a quick 7-0 lead.
Weeden hooked up with James on an 85-yard touchdown with four minutes left in the opening period to give the Seminoles a 13-0 lead. The point after was blocked.
Weeden's third touchdown of the quarter was a 28-yard strike to James with 2:09 left in the quarter. The point after gave Osceola a 20-0 advantage.
Osceola continued to put points on the board when Ashton Nall galloped in from 20 yards out early in the second quarter. James kicked the point after to put the Seminoles up 27-0.
The 'Noles closed out the first half scoring on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Weeden to Brendon Parker with just 50 seconds left in the half. James scored on the two point conversion run and Osceola held a 35-0 halftime lead.
Osceola scored on its first two possession of the third quarter. Darrious Miller sprinted 67 yards on the Seminoles first play of the period, and after the Osceola defense held Manila on downs, Nalls took the Manila punt and skirted 75 yards for a 49-0 Seminole bulge. The Seminoles tacked on one last touchdown to set the final margin.
Weeden finished the game six of nine for 222 yards and four scores. James snared three passes for 142 yards and three touchdowns.
