Barbara Frances Grimes

Barbara Frances Grimes, 84, longtime Leachville resident and widow of Monte Grimes, passed from this life Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at the Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born Nov. 8, 1928, in Monette she was the daughter of the late Thomas Houston and Alma Jessica Abby Barnes and was a 1945 graduate of Childress High School. She was a retired office manager for the former Redbook Company of Leachville, a longtime member of the Leachville First Baptist Church, and a lifelong area resident.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Monte Carl and LouAnn Grimes of Alvarado, Texas; one daughter, Monta Lea Grimes of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Fred Barnes of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren, Chad Horner and wife, Melissa of Wichita, Kan., and Sarah Taylor and husband, Jeff of Alvarado; and three great-grandchildren, Alex Horner, Charlotte Horner and Henley Taylor.

Funeral service was 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. David Price officiating. Burial followed in Leachville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Marvin Brown, Snowden Hawkins, Gordon Miller, Tommy Eldried, Ronnie McFarland and Hugh Wayne Rose.

The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
