Buffalo Island Central's Lady Mustangs finished fifth in last week's 2A State Golf Championships at the Greystone Country Club in Cabot.

BIC was led by freshman Kensie Walker who fired a 118 on the par 72 Greystone course. Sophomore Ashley Field shot a 128 while freshman Jona Carmichael finished with a score of 135.

"I am really proud of our team," said Lady Mustang Golf Coach Cary Cossey. "Considering our team is made up of two freshmen and a sophomore, to finish fifth in the state among 10 teams is quite an accomplishment. We have a lot to look forward to in the future."

Spring Hill claimed the state title with a winning team score of 281. East Poinsett County's Anna Claire Williams was crowned the state individual champion, taking home medalist honors with a 16 over par 88. Riverside's Hannah Pack represented the Lady Rebels and shot a 149.

The BIC boys will participate in the 2A State Championship beginning Tuesday at the Conway Country Club.
