Work requires closure of Highway 140 bridge in Mississippi County

LITTLE ROCK -- Extensive work will require the closure of the Highway 140 Bridge near Etowah and Athelstan in Mississippi County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be repairing the bridge located over Little River, southeast of Etowah, in western Mississippi County. The work will require closing the bridge to all traffic. Highway 140 is the primary route between Osceola and Lepanto.

The closure will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30. The closure is expected to last approximately six weeks. Drivers will be detoured using Highways 136 and 77.

Traffic will be controlled using barrels and detour/warning signs. Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at ArkansasHighways.com or on Twitter @AHTD.
