ANC Works Program extends to Paragould
Arkansas Northeastern College is excited to announce its new partnership with Paragould High School through the Arkansas Works program. The partnership includes the implementation of a career coach, Matthew Woods, in Paragould High School.
The career coach position is an expansion of the Arkansas College and Career Planning System for high school students. The program is focused on increasing the number of high school students who are college and career ready upon graduation. The career coach's duties include providing information and guidance to students and parents about post-secondary education training and opportunities.
This marks the first venture into Greene County for a career coach. The program has been implemented in various counties throughout the state and Arkansas Northeastern College has partnered with all schools in Mississippi County over the past several years.
Mr. Woods is a graduate of Arkansas State University and holds a BA and MA in communication studies. While in college, Mr. Woods was the coach of the ASU debate team under director Chris Harper. Originally from Marked Tree, Mr. Woods now resides in Jonesboro with his wife and two children.
"I am excited about the career coach program and to bring it to Paragould High," Woods said. "I believe this may open doors that some students thought to be closed to them in the past and it is my goal to help increase the number of students who are ready for college or the workforce when they graduate."
