Edna Lucille "Boots" Poe

Edna Lucille "Boots" Poe, of Black Oak, departed this life Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at the Manila Nursing Center at the age of 84. She was born Oct. 1, 1928 in Buffalo Township, Ark., the daughter of T.L. Goodman, Sr. and Minnie Mae Fielder Goodman. She was a homemaker and also a certified dietary manager at the Lane Nursing Home for many years. She married Elvis Lee Poe, Sr. on May 19, 1945 in Black Oak and they enjoyed 61 years together before his death in 2006. She loved cooking and quilting. She loved cards and board games, especially

Scrabble, canasta and Yatsee. She loved caring for her children and grandchildren and was always heavily involved in their school activities and upbringing.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tom Hatch, six brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter, Brandi Clay.

She is survived by three sons, Elvis Poe, Jr. of Holly Grove, James Poe (Judy) of Lake City, Mark Poe (Christina) of Black Oak; two daughters, Janice McClelland (Jim) of Guntersville, Ala., and Regina Hatch of Monette; two brothers, T.L. Goodman, Jr. (Ann) of Ft. Smith and Bob Goodman (Jane) of Monette; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Jerry Reed and Rev. Everett Isom officiating. Interment followed in Monette Cemetery.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Grandsons served as pallbearers and granddaughters, great-granddaughters and great-grandsons served as honorary pallbearers.
