Caraway Police awarded money seized in a 2012 drug arrest

The Caraway Police Department was awarded $768.64 on Aug. 27 in money seized during a drug arrest.

The arrest was made on March 9, 2012, when Captain Kevin Tucker with the Caraway Police Department made a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Dylan Sims of Paragould was a passenger.

Tucker observed Sims' nervous behavior and discovered that Sims had given him a false name. Sims was placed into custody and Tucker located methamphetamine, marijuana, scales, drug paraphernalia and $1,295 in cash.

A judgment was issued providing for the forfeiture of the money with $11.15 going towards seizure costs and fees, $259 (20 percent) going to the Arkansas Crime Lab Fund leaving a balance of $1,024.85 to be distributed. The 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force received $256.21 (25 percent) and the Caraway Police Department received $768.64 (75 percent).
