Mustang golfers continue winning ways

Buffalo Island Central swept three golf matches beginning Aug. 27 at the Big Lake Country Club with a win over Armorel in a dual match. The Mustangs then defeated Riverside and Crowley's Ridge Academy in a tri-match Aug. 29 at Manila before coming out on top Sept. 3, defeating four other teams at the Big Lake Country Club.

In BIC's win over Armorel, Ryan Stuck took co-medalist honors, shooting a three over par 39. Teammates Dax Hurst and Trey DePriest shot rounds of 45 and 46 to give the Mustangs a 130 team total, 29 shots better than the Tigers.

In girls play, Ashley Field fired a 60 while Jonna Carmichael and Kensi Walker shot rounds of 61 and 63 respectively. The Lady Mustangs finished with a team total of 184, 16 shots behind winner Armorel.

Trey Depriest blistered the Big Lake course, firing a five-under par 31 in BIC's win over Riverside and CRA. Stuck shot a 40 while Hurst added a 44 to give BIC a winning score of 115.

Riverside, which finished runner-up with a 149 total, was led by Michael Mann's round of 46. Jordan Adams shot a 51 while Cannon Smith finished with a score of 52.

In girl's action, BIC shot a team score of 178, led by medalist Jonna Carmichael's round of 58. Walker and Field completed their day with scores of 60. Lady Rebel Hannah Pack shot a 64.

The Mustangs shot a team score of 120 to better runner-up Manila by 15 shots in the Sept. 3 match at the Big Lake Country Club. Trey DePriest garnered medalist honors with a one over par 37. Stuck fired a round of 40 while Jacob Sanders came home with score of 43.

Scott Eubanks fired a 42 to lead the Lions while teammates Alex Richard and Gage Owen shot rounds of 45 and 48 respectively. Riverside finished fourth with a team score of 155. The Rebels were led by Michael Mann's 49 while Larry Tilley and Jordan Adams completed their rounds with scores of 50 and 56 respectively.

Taylor Teague won medalist honors on the girl's side, firing a 54, while teammate Taylor Adams shot a 58 to lead the Lady Lions. Jonna Carmichael led BIC, shooting a 57. Ashley Field completed her round in 58 strokes while Walker shot a 61. Riverside's Hannah Pack finished the day with a round of 60.

BIC and Manila will be back in action Tuesday afternoon at the Big Lake Country Club in a four-team match that will also include Rivercrest and Nettleton.
