Freshman DePriest leads Mustang golfers to pair of wins

Buffalo Island Central won its second match in a row, shooting a winning score of 120 at the Thunder Bayou Golf Course Tuesday afternoon in Blytheville. The Mustangs' winning score was 19 shots better than runner-up West Memphis, who fired a 139. Riverside finished third, shooting a 152, while Armorel was fourth with a 157 tally.

Mustang freshman sensation Trey DePriest fired a one under 35 in the nine-hole event to take home medalist honors on the day. Sophomore Ryan Stuck helped the BIC cause, shooting a three over 39 while teammates Jacob Sanders and Dax Hurst both shot 46's.

Larry Tilley led the Rebels with a 48 while Michael Mann and Jordan Adams fired rounds of 51 and 53 respectively.

Lady Mustangs Jona Carmichael and Ashley Field participated individually, shooting scores of 56 and 64. Hannah Pack of Riverside came home with a round of 57 for the Lady Rebels.

The Mustangs defeated Riverside and Manila in a tri-team match Aug. 13 at the Big Lake Country Club in Manila. BIC fired a team score of 121 to outdistance the Rebels and Lions, who both shot rounds of 161.

Trey DePriest claimed medalist honors with an even par 36. Ryan Stuck finished the day with a round of 41 while Dax Hurst shot a 44.

Matthew Turner led the way for the Rebels with a score of 52 while Larry Tilley and Michael Mann completed their afternoon with rounds of 53 and 56 respectively.

Scott Eubanks fired a 50 to lead the Lions while Justin Bratton and Alex Richard finished the day with scores of 55 and 56.

Ashley Field shot a nine-hole score of 52 for the Lady Mustangs while teammate Kensie Walker shot a 58. Manila's Taylor Adams finished the day with a 57 while Lady Lion Karley Moore fired a 65. Hannah Pack shot a 71 for Riverside.

Cedar Ridge was six shots better than BIC Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Links in Jonesboro. The Timberwolves fired a team score of 112 to outlast the Mustangs, who came home with a 118. Marmaduke finished third with a 153 tally.

Jacob Sanders led the Mustangs with a nine-hole score of 38 while teammate Ryan Stuck followed close behind with a 39. Dax Hurst finished with a 41.

Jonna Carmichael fired a 57 for the Lady Mustangs while Kensie Walker shot a score of 59.

The Mustangs will return to action Thursday, Aug. 29, in a dual match with Riverside at the Big Lake Country Club in Manila. BIC will tangle with Manila in a dual match Tuesday, Sept. 3, also at the Big Lake Country Club. Tee times for both matches are set for 3:30.
