Lake City Council meets Aug. 19
Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan introduced Brett Strobbe, new Shelter Insurance agent for Lake City, at the regular city council meeting Aug. 19.
Mr. Strobbe said he looks forward to meeting the citizens of Lake City and working with them. He is a native of Hardy/Cherokee Village area and graduated from Arkansas State University in 2003 and presently lives in Jonesboro. His sales assistant is Diane Minton.
Mayor Milligan updated the Council on the GIF Grant saying he is getting a quote on a generator for the Well house on Catfish Drive. After receiving the quote he will know which direction to proceed with grant funding.
City Clerk Linda Simpson read Resolution 2013-8-19, State Aid City Street Program Project Resolution, a resolution expressing the willingness of the City of Lake City to utilize State Aid Street monies for city projects named in the resolution funded by the state for construction, re-construction, resurfacing, and preliminary engineering at 100 percent of cost. The City pays for 100 percent of right-of-way, utilities, and city-projects programmed but not let to contract. The council approved the Resolution unanimously.
Mayor Milligan presented a letter to the Council from the Lake City Planning and Zoning Committee addressed to Lee Beasley of Jonesboro. The city is requesting Ms. Beasley complete the streets in the Riverpark Subdivision to the City's standards so they can be dedicated to the city within 120 days. A motion was made by Alderman Danny Dunigan and seconded by Alderman Jeffery Wisham approving the letter to be mailed certified with return signature.
The council agreed to have the following statement included in the next water bill to all residents: "Please help keep our city clean. Mow your grass clipping toward your yard, not the street. Thank you."
The next regular scheduled council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at city hall.
