Manila School Board considers personnel in special called meeting
Manila School Board members met for a special called meeting Thursday evening to consider personnel issues including resignations and hiring.
Board members welcomed Tamra Crowell who was appointed to fill the position of her husband, Tony Crowell, who resigned to accept the position of dean of students. Mrs. Crowell will fill in until the school board election scheduled for Sept. 17. Candidates who have filed for the position are Jackie May and Anita Henry Cole.
President Danny Robbins opened the meeting calling for an executive session to discuss personnel.
Other board members present were Brandon Veach, Jeremy Jackson and Johnny McCain.
Following the executive session, Superintendent Pam Castor recommended the board accept the resignation of Dolan Russell, mechanic; Zackary Lisko, middle school teacher and assistant football coach. The board voted unanimously 5-0 to accept the resignations.
The board unanimously voted to hire Wendy Campbell, full time cafeteria employee; Stacie Richmond, part-time cafeteria employee; Linda Cole, part-time cafeteria employee; Brooke Shirey, kindergarten teacher; transfer teacher Tracey Milligan to elementary physical education and softball coach; Kristen Sullivan, assistant softball coach; Bethany Curtis, middle school teacher; Courtney Owens, middle school teacher; and Terry Routon, bus mechanic.
