Monette Manor Beauty Pageant held

Monette Manor's annual beauty pageant was presented at 2 p.m. July 25 with 23 participants.

All of the contestants went through a complete makeover. Lisa Delbridge and Sheena Wagner styled participants' hair. Regina Ballard and Grace Gillham applied their make-up and many of the certified nursing assistants dressed the ladies in their "Sunday Best" apparel with matching accessories.

Families and staff escorted the contestants. Judges were Marsha Davis, Tracey Routen and Lisa Moad. Wendy Carpenter served as mistress of ceremony.

A brief history of each contestant was given and each was given the opportunity to answer questions and tell stories.

Robert Chambers and Ricky Copeland provided and assisted with music.

Flowers and trophies were given to the winners. The reigning queen, Betty Brister, crowned the 2013 Queen Marlene Crites and presented her with a trophy and a dozen roses.

Other winners included Bernice Emery and Helen Perez, honorable mention; Thelma Price, Ms. Congeniality; Zula McCain, first alternate; Mary Lou Cagle, second alternate; Virgie Shirley, third alternate; Lavelle Mann, Ms. Life History; Glendola Harrison, Ms. Outstanding.
