Caraway hosting events to benefit the Meral Langston family

Caraway firefighters and EMS workers are taking orders for Boston butts, $25, to be picked up anytime during the day on June 29th at the Caraway gym. Money will be collected when the order is picked up.

The benefit is being held for the Meral Langston's family.

On Saturday, June 29th, at Caraway gym: Live music will begin at 6:30. First band is Roger, Ben, and Friends followed by Ronnie Presley and Straight Shooter. Concession stand will be available. The concert is also a benefit for Meral Langston's family.

Also, donated items will be auctioned. Among the items collected for auction are an Epiphone Les Paul guitar donated by Roger Williams and a painting by Garry Reeves, former Caraway High School art teacher. If others want to donate items to auction contact Roger Williams at 870-275-2344.

Admission to the concert/auction is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. All donations and proceeds will benefit the Meral Langston family.

On July 4th, parade lineup starts at 9 a.m. in front of the Caraway gym. Parade will begin between 9:15 and 9:30am. If you'd like to enter the parade, be at the gym by 8:30 a.m.

During the day, there will be gospel music and giveaways at the bandstand.

The first softball game will begin at 6:30 inside the ballpark. Admission to the game is $3 for children ages 3 to 12 and $5 for ages 12 and up. Concession stand will be available. Proceeds from the ballgame will go to the Meral Langston family.

Langston, 47, passed away June 17. He was a firefighter as well as an emergency medical technician for 10 years.

Fireworks will begin at approximately 9 p.m.
