Tuesday, June 18, 2013

Meet Jackson Neil, ANC advisor for Allied Health Careers. Neil was born in Blytheville, raised in Cooter, Mo., and educated in Arkansas, Missouri, and Mississippi. Neil received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Mississippi, Teaching Certification from University of Missouri, St. Louis; and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arkansas State University.

Jackson Neil, advisor for Allied Health Careers at the new Arkansas Northeastern College Advising Center, talks with a student at the college.

As Director of Allied Health at Arkansas Northeastern College, Neil found that much of his time was spent in an advising capacity. In his new position with the ANC Advising Center, Neil is pleased to have the opportunity to participate in the formative phase of "primary advising" at ANC."Having the resources and time to devote to advising individual students will result in successful outcomes for everyone involved," says Neil. "The idea is to find the right fit-- where interests and aptitude intersect. Sometimes students come to me and are unsure of their direction. We talk about it, and very often, they answer their own questions."

The new ANC Advising Center will utilize data analysis and Compass test scores to direct students toward paths that will create the best possible setting for students to achieve their goals.

ANC's new registration changes allow the advisors to spend more time working with students on the front end, which should help them be more successful. It takes time to thoroughly plan for college.Students are encouraged to take advantage of the open registration and start early to meet with advisors.

Ideally, advisors should be dedicated, helpful, and easy to talk with. Jackson Neil is the right fit for the new ANC Advising Center.Anyone interested in embarking on or enhancing an allied health career path should call Mr. Jackson Neil at the Arkansas Northeastern College Advising Center for an appointment. Registration is ongoing for Summer II classes and Fall 2013-14 classes. Students are invited to contact Neil at (870) 740-6433or by email at jneil@smail.anc.edu.
