Celebration time at Monette Manor
Monette Manor staff hosted a celebration on Thursday afternoon in honor of residents Barbara Grimes and Annette Lippert.
Ms. Grimes completed her rounds of chemotherapy and Ms. Lippert finished 35 radiation treatments.
Both women received good reports following their treatments and it was a day to celebrate.
The table was decorated in red with balloons and cookie cakes. The surprise reception was kicked off with a "jingle" sung by the staff and accompanied by Ricky Copeland and Robert Chambers.
Wendy Carpenter welcomed everyone and congratulated the women for their brave battle.
"It is a day to celebrate," Wendy said.
Staff members covered the honorees with silly string. It only took a few minutes to do away with the silly string and the two were honored by Brenda Matheny, Chairman of the Buffalo Island Relay for Life. Matheny presented each one with a medallion, a purple cancer survivor tee-shirt with the words "I am Hope," printed on the back.
Staff and residents enjoyed refreshments and entertainment by Robert and Rick singing some of the Oldies but Goodies.
