Mary Elizebeth Ashabranner receives national certification

Mary Elizebeth Ashabranner

Mary Elizebeth Ashabranner, CGCS of Manila, recently passed the national certification examination for Certified Gastroenterology Coding Specialist administered by the Professional Association of Healthcare Coding Specialists. Mary Elizebeth now joins an elite group of Certified Coding Specialists throughout the country.

The Professional Association of Healthcare Coding Specialist (PAHCS), administers the examination to test the skills of medical coders of group and solo specialty physician offices throughout the nation. The comprehensive four hour examination evaluates the candidate's knowledge of several subject areas that include procedure coding, diagnosis coding, compliance, and a host of other topics that are necessary to code in an effective and efficient manner. The mixture of multiple choice and coding scenarios challenges candidates in the demands of today's increasingly complex coding environment.

PAHCS is a national association with headquarters located in Tampa, Fla. Membership consists of health care coders working in small and large group specialty practices within the medical profession.

Mary Elizebeth has also successfully fulfilled the requirements as an AAPC ICD-10-CM instructor for instruction at Practice Plus, Little Rock.
