The Class of 1958 enjoys 55th reunion

The Manila High School Class of 1958 enjoyed a reunion on Friday and Saturday, May 25-26. Members of the class gathered at the Manila Depot Friday evening for dinner and reminiscing. The Friday night dinner was catered by Sheila Parks Dobbs.

Class members enjoyed visiting early in the evening with Francys Faulkner, class sponsor. Mrs. Faulkner was a long time teacher/librarian at Manila High School. Another teacher/coach attending the reunion was Wanda Carroll.

The Class of 1958 remembered deceased classmates and honored them with a balloon release. Classmates remembered included Fran Jackson Ashabranner, Ronnie Ballard, Donna Holsclaw Brookside, Paul Clark, Wanda Wilson Clark, Gail Gordon Countess, Dora Deal Eubanks, Brenda Bunch Flagg, Patsy Williams Hembrey, James Hill, Jeannia Love Howard, Dickie Jolliff, Glenna Light Montgomery, Jimmy Scott, Linda Wells Scott, Jerry Stutts, Shirley Bray Taylor, and Linda Rogers Thompson.

The group enjoyed a CD/video created and shared with classmates by Jim Parks featuring scenes from the senior class trip and other activities.

The Class of 1958 had 57 graduates. Officers included Ronnie Ballard, president; Jim Parks, vice president, Marcia White Shedd, secretary, and Shelby Palmer Barns, treasurer.

Nelson and Betty Benson hosted a luncheon at their home on Saturday with R.L. Hicks cooking a shrimp pot.
